"If someone today had told me when I got married that I would be doing a boudoir session, I would have died of laughter right then and there! But when my first anniversary was getting close, Lauren sent me an email suggesting it. I knew Lauren was a fantastic photographer, not just because of her skills with a camera, but because she makes photo-taking a comfortable and relaxed experience. On a spontaneous leap, I decided to just go for it, and responded that I was interested.
Lauren set up a meeting with me to explain how the session would go, some suggestions she had, and to answer any questions I might have. By the end of the meeting, I had been convinced, and I booked a session. In the weeks leading up to it, she sent more suggestions my way, from outfits to self care so I'd look and feel my best.
On the day of the shoot, I was met by Lauren and the stylist. The first hour I got my hair and makeup done while Lauren and I chatted. Once I was all dolled up, we stepped into the studio, where I showed her my outfits. From there, we just picked one, and started shooting! Throughout the session, Lauren helped me to feel comfortable and relaxed, encouraging me to live in the moment, and adjusting me slightly to get the best light and pose. The experience was a real ego booster! I'm not a small woman at all, and yet I felt truly beautiful! I may have booked the session as an anniversary gift, but by the end of it, my husband was just reaping the benefits of a wonderfully empowering experience for myself.

“Doing a boudoir session was NOT something on my radar; I am a very "vanilla" girl, and never dreamed of doing something like this. Lauren's work came up in a conversation with a friend, and I decided to reach outside of my comfort zone and surprise my husband with these pictures. Saying I loved my session was an understatement. Lauren made me feel comfortable the entire time, and never once did I feel self conscious about it. She captured me in a light I have never seen myself in. Maybe I wasn't happy with my weight, or my stretch marks, or my bad tattoo, and was nervous how I would see myself in these pictures...but guess what? I looked HOT! 10/10 would recommend. “Stop waiting to lose the weight, and just do the shoot” was the last push I needed to do a boudoir session.
9 months prior, I gave birth to my first baby. I suffer from Post-Partum Depression (PPD). Sometimes I don’t feel like myself. Sometimes I get angry, cry, or get extremely anxious for no reason. As one would expect, PPD was not helping my post-partum body image. I had lost most of my baby weight, but wasn’t exactly where I wanted to be. And that affected me mentally, which affected my body image more, which contributed to my PPD, and round and round we go. I needed a boost.
I always thought boudoir was for your partner, a sensual gift you do for them. But after reading how many women have done boudoir for THEMSELVES, I reached out to Lauren. She assured me that this experience could help with the mental and physical hurdles that I was trying to overcome. And she was right.
Not only did I have an absolute blast with Lauren during the shoot, but ever since, I have been walking around with a new confidence that I’ve never had before.
Not once have I looked in the mirror and nit-picked my stomach, arms, or areas of my body that aren’t back to “pre-baby” status. I now look in the mirror and think, “man I’m hot.” I am now fully comfortable in my postpartum body now, and proud of the life it has created. I am mentally in a better place than I have been in in months, completely and fully happy with myself. Subsequently, my PPD symptoms have drastically decreased. I am happy, confident, and perfect just the way I am in this moment.
